All countries with developed industries attach great importance to standardization because it can bring quality, efficiency and benefit to industry. In China, the survival and development of the standard parts industry of molds are facing serious challenges. Mould standard parts are an important part of mould and the foundation of mould. It is of great technical and economic significance to shorten the design and manufacturing cycle of molds, reduce the production cost of molds and improve the quality of molds. The experience of foreign industrialized countries proves that the specialized production and commercial supply of mould standard parts have greatly promoted the development of mould industry. According to foreign data, the wide application of standard parts can shorten the design and manufacturing cycle by 25-40%; It can save social working hours caused by users' self-made standard parts and reduce the waste of raw materials and energy; It can lay a foundation for the application of modern technology such as mold CAD/CAM. The manufacturing accuracy and service performance of the die can be significantly improved. Usually, the standard parts produced by specialization will improve the matching accuracy and position accuracy by at least one order of magnitude compared with the self-made standard parts, and can ensure interchangeability and prolong the service life of molds, thus promoting the reform of economic system, operating mechanism, industrial structure and production management in the industry, realizing specialized and large-scale production, and driving the formation and development of the commodity market of mold standard parts. It can be said that without the specialization and commercialization of mold standard parts, there would be no modernization of mold industry.

In recent years, with the rapid development of China's mold industry, the standardization, specialization and commercialization of mold parts have reached a high level and made great progress. Since the establishment of the National Mould Standardization Technical Committee in 1983, experts have been organized to formulate, revise and review mould standards, and more than 90 standards have been issued, including 22 standards for dies and more than 20 standards for plastic moulds. The publication and implementation of these standards have promoted the technological progress and development of the mold industry and produced great social and economic benefits. The research, development and production of mould standard parts are being carried out in an all-round way, and the product types, varieties and specifications, as well as the technical performance and quality level of products have been obviously improved. Bright Lo, CEO of Mould Network, said that at present, the standardization and application level of moulds in China are still relatively low, which is optimistically estimated to be less than 30%, and there is still a big gap compared with developed countries abroad (70-80%). Although the number of manufacturers is increasing year by year, most of them are small in scale, outdated in equipment, backward in technology, high in cost and low in efficiency. Only ordinary small and medium-sized standard die sets and plastic die sets, guide posts, guide sleeves, push rods, die springs, pneumatic components and other products are highly commercialized and can basically meet the needs of the domestic market, and some of them are exported. However, those personalized products with high technical content, advanced structure, excellent performance, high quality and convenient replacement, such as ball lock quick-change punch and fixed plate, solid lubrication guide plate and guide sleeve, wedge mechanism and its parts, high-grade plastic mold standard parts and nitrogen main spring, are few in domestic manufacturers, and due to lack of funds, technical transformation projects are difficult to implement, production efficiency is low, delivery cycle is long, and the contradiction between supply and demand is increasingly prominent.

Therefore, a considerable number of mould standard parts need to be imported from abroad every year, and the cost accounts for about 3-8% of the annual mould import. There are still many problems in technical standards, scientific and technological development and product quality of domestic mold standard parts. For example, the product standard is chaotic, the functional components are few and the technical content is low, and the applicability is poor; Small technical innovation, outdated equipment, backward technology, low level of specialization and unstable product quality; Lack of professional talents, lagging management, low production efficiency and long delivery cycle; Uneven distribution of production and sales outlets, less specifications of business varieties and insufficient supply; In order to compete for the market, some units do not pay attention to quality, and shoddy goods flood the market. There are also phenomena of disregarding costs, blindly reducing prices and disrupting the market, which need to be carefully studied and solved.
